Version 0.0.032 - Scroll that Map


This build adds more ways to scroll the map.

  • Click and Drag - Just click on the map and move the mouse.
  • Mouse Wheel - Mouse wheel will scroll vertically by default. Hold Shift to scroll horizontally.
  • Shift + Keys - Keyboard controls can work by holding Shift and using the arrow keys (this has existed for a while)
  • Move your mouse to the edge of the screen (this was the first method and is pointed out in the tutorial)

New map overlay

This should increase performance as the map is now 1 big image instead of 1 image per tile. This also means I had to get rid of the movement and attack icons, which unleashed a lot of issues and questions about presentation. Free Range Movement will introduce new changes that need to be made, so I'm fine with letting this go.

Bug fixes

The OK/Cancel button will always be on screen - turns out you can spawn them offscreen, which menas there's no way to advance the game by clicking on them. Whoops. Keyboard still works.

What's next?

  • A link to this page to get feedback and add to the wishlist (thanks whoever added this!)
  • Update the "Click on the target" window so it warns you if there are no targets.
  • Another bug I need to fix was diagnosed, sometimes you can hang the game if you move the mouse around while ending the turn.

Free Range Movement is right around the corner, but I need to refactor the main battle loop to add more flexibility.
