Version 0.0.048: Training Wheels are go
Take it easy until your first defeat
The demons conveniently miss until you defeat your first target, who conveniently gets a critical hit.
This should help newcomers in a relatively safe environment learn how to move and control themselves before they work toward the game's goals.
Man, this took a while. Before I started this task, there were multiple mechanics to trigger cutscenes, and that's it.
First step was to refactor events so only one mechanism would use them. It had to consolidate logic from multiple sources and I changed how they are called. Then I could introduce a new effect to change the game's settings.
Then I actually had to change the game's calculations so Training Wheels could override it.
But hey, I figured it out.
What's Next?
There's still a loading bug involving Training Wheels but it's minor enough I can publish it now.
After this I want to think about animating the attack screen. Show a visual representation of attack rolls and penalties.
I also want to look into different visual representations of images. For such a simple game I have a huge payload. Can I compress this further?
