Critical Hit Animation

Critical Hit! Get wrecked, demon!

Battle animations have been reworked entirely.

  • All new animations: Attacking, Critical Hits, Healing. If it had an animation before it has a new one now.
  • Added ease in/ease out animation
  • Sprites can move in a line, a parabola (like our demon friend in the video), or a wave (if the demon survived you'd see it stagger back.)
  • UI cleanup to give more space to messages and remove too much text.

This took over a week of adding math and reworking the animation system altogether. But it worked out well. I also simplified some of the attack descriptions. Working on this project has shown me my philosophies behind coding change over time, and I've had to retrofit my old stuff.

What's next?

The text sizes are too inconsistent. The uneven text font is annoying me, and I want finer control over when I try to shrink text versus when I try to add more lines of text. I also want to add variable text box widths.
